CALAMBA CITY, Laguna - Local governments began injecting the second COVID-19 booster dose to healthcare workers and senior citizens in accordance with the Department of Health's recommendation (DOH).

During the Resbakuna Updates: A Town Hall for Barangay Health Workers on May 18, Dr. KZ Rosario, Co-Lead of the National Vaccination Operations Center, announced that the DOH has directed that healthcare workers, senior citizens, and the immunocompromised receive a second booster shot to provide additional protection against COVID-19.



After four months of receiving the first COVID-19 booster dose, the second booster dose can be injected. According to the DOH, only Pfizer and Moderna vaccines can currently be used as an additional booster.

Although the decline in cases of the disease across the country continues to be felt, Dr. reminded. In Laguna, on May 18, healthcare workers in Santa Cruz began to be given additional booster shots, followed by Bay and Santa Rosa on May 19. On May 20, Cabuyao and San Pablo City began.

On Saturday, May 21 the extra booster dose will be rolled out in Binan, while on Monday, May 23 Pakil will start.
