Rizal celebrates National Disaster Resilience Month, conducts YES Bamboo Planting
Ynares to Eco System (YES) to Green Program (NDRM)

BARAS, Rizal - Rizal Governor Nina Ricci Ynares-Chiongbian conducts extensive planting with residents in Barangay San Juan, Baras, Rizal, as part of the Ynares to Eco System (YES) to Green Program (NDRM).

The theme of the month-long NDRM celebration, which took place from July 1 to 29, 2022, was "Filipino people, united towards stability and a prosperous future," with the goal of "promoting unity toward stability and sustainable development."

Around 300 more bamboo saplings were planted with the help and support of Baras town officials, BJMP, BFP, PNP, Philippine Army, Civic Organizations, Parole and Probation Administration, BHW, and the YES Team. Governor Ynares thanked the province's 14 LGUs, government agencies, and the private sector for their continued support of the YES Program.

The planting promoted by the YES Program is a massive help in preparing communities for other types of disasters, particularly floods and landslides, which are common in our province.

During then-Governor Rebecca Ynares, tens of thousands of bamboos planted throughout the province. According to studies, bamboos consume more carbon dioxide and emit 35% more oxygen, absorbing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and providing a balance of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the air.

Online journals also mention bamboo as a material that aids soil erosion prevention.
