LIPA CITY - The province of Batangas showcased its pristine beauty and rich marine biodiversity by highlighting the Verde Island Passage when it participated in the 34th Philippine Travel Mart (PTM) at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Known as the "center of the world" of marine shorefish biodiversity in the world, this remarkable passage is a haven for divers and nature enthusiasts alike. With its crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs, Batangas aims to promote sustainable tourism and conservation efforts to protect this valuable ecosystem for future generations to enjoy.

Verde Island was introduced as one of the main attractions in Batangas during the PTM. Its rich marine life and stunning underwater landscapes make it a popular destination for diving enthusiasts.

Visitors were captivated by the diverse species of fish and colorful coral formations found in Verde Island, solidifying Batangas' reputation as a top diving spot in the Philippines.

Based on the theme of “Under the Sea,” the introduction of the marine resources of Batangas became water-friendly through an immersive, interactive, and innovative LED tunnel technology that will give passersby the feeling of being under the ocean.

This virtual reality display features different types of coral reefs, including the thousands of species of marine life found in the depths of the Verde Island Passage.

The Province of Batangas, with the initiative and leadership of the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office headed by Governor Hermilando Mandanas, received good praise.

The LED tunnel technology not only showcases the beauty of the ocean but also raises awareness about the importance of preserving marine ecosystems.

The province was also given the opportunity to stage such an exhibit through the "Batangas Hour," which served as an opportunity to raise the awareness of those in the convention center regarding the importance of the Verde Island and emphasize its preservation.

In the message of Mandanas, he shared that, apart from the beauty and size of the benefits that come from Verde Island, it still remains that the main wealth of the province is every Batangueño who practices the culture and tradition of the brave; Batangueños who possess courage and dignity, are a people who are truly God-loving, human-loving, and nation-loving.

The three-day 34th Philippine Travel Mart, held from September 1 to 3, 2023, at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, in Pasay City, is one of the largest expositions in the country that local and foreign tourists go to to find and discover unique destinations that can be visited in the country.

Members of the Batangas Dive Association (BaDAss) also joined the travel mart and took the time to teach the visitors some knowledge about diving.

They showcased their passion for diving and shared information about the diverse marine life and breathtaking dive sites that can be explored in the province.

Aside from the Batangas Pavilion, other provinces and regions from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao also featured their respective proud attractions and destinations in the three-day exhibit.
