LUCENA CITY, Quezon - All 16 current mayors in Quezon province who ran again in the May 12 elections have won another term, according to early, unofficial results from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as of today, May 14, 2025. This unanimous outcome includes unopposed victories, such as Clara Larita in Patnanungan, suggesting a lack of significant opposition to the incumbents.

The biggest winner in the recent elections was Mayor Mark Alcala of Lucena City, who secured a commanding reelection triumph with 133,390 votes. The substantial margin over his closest opponent, independent Efren Cruzat with only 9,590 votes, highlights Alcala's strong voter support and solidifies the Alcala family's long-standing influence in Lucena City's political landscape.

Adding to the Alcala family's success, Mayor Alcala's father, Vice Mayor Roderick Alcala, also secured his reelection by a significant margin, garnering 127,097 votes. Following their victories, the father-and-son duo addressed Lucena residents, with Mayor Alcala reiterating his commitment to a more progressive and modern city, a vision championed by his campaign slogan, “Boom Lucena.”

In Lucban, Tenten Villaverde successfully reclaimed the town's highest office, defeating his fellow former mayor, Oli Dator. Likewise, Mauban witnessed a change in leadership, with Mayor Erwin Pastrana unseating the then-incumbent former Mayor Dingdong Llamas, despite both being experienced political figures with prior mayoral terms.

The Pagbilao mayoral race drew significant attention due to the unique sibling rivalry between Gigi Portes (NPC), a seasoned local politician, and incumbent Vice Mayor Shierre Ann Palicpic (NP). In a close contest, Gigi Portes prevailed with 21,167 votes to her sister's 18,634. This narrow margin of just over 2,500 votes underscored the intense personal and political dynamics of this sibling rivalry, making it a highly talked-about race in Quezon province and highlighting the influence of political families in the region.

These election results underscore a significant trend of voter confidence in the incumbent local leadership across Quezon province. Securing another term, these mayors are now entrusted with the continued implementation of their respective projects and programs, with the expectation of further development and progress for their constituents in the coming years.

In the 2025 elections, Quezon province, a first-class province with a population of nearly two million and a land area of 8,743.84 square kilometers, recorded a significant number of registered voters. With 1,496,156 individuals registered, this reflects a substantial portion of the province's population actively participating in the electoral process, demonstrating the region's engagement in local governance.

Other current mayors also won reelection, includes Alfred Rigor Mitra in Panukulan won against Atty. Badeth Virrey, Angelique Bosque in Polilio won against Insan Santoalla, George Suayan in Candelaria won against Fidel Cruz and former Mayor Macky Boongaling, Orlan Calayag will stay as mayor of Dolores, and Ramon Orfanel reelected in Catanauan. Also winning were Artemio Mamburao against Atty. Vic Giminez in Macalelon, Aris Aguirre against former Mayor Tito Ojeda in Mulanay, Ruben Uy Diokno will stay as mayor of Padre Burgos, Dexter Sayat against Dennis Gliane in Pitogo, and Webster Letargo against Councilor Rainier Oliveros in Gumaca.
