PADRE BURGOS, Quezon – The 4-H Club of Padre Burgos, represented by Ms. Carl Anthony I. Catapang, actively participated in the PAGSAKA (Pag-asa ng Organikong Sakahan, Ating Kabataan) Vlog Contest Orientation and Training on Organic Vegetable Production 2025 held on June 17, 2025. The event brought together 28 enthusiastic youth delegates from 15 municipalities across Quezon Province, all members of their local 4-H Clubs, signifying a strong commitment to sustainable agriculture among the younger generation.
This innovative program is designed to significantly boost youth involvement in organic farming by leveraging the power of modern media, specifically vlog production. Participants will utilize these vlogs as dynamic platforms to document and share their personal journeys, experiences, and contributions to organic agriculture.
The initiative aims to underscore organic farming's importance not just as a method of food production but also as a vital pathway to safer food, a cleaner environment, and a more sustainable future. By doing so, it seeks to deepen the youth's appreciation and dedication to this crucial advocacy.
Official Launch and Hands-On Support
The orientation, spearheaded by Dr. Ana Clarissa S. Mariano, Provincial Agriculturist of Quezon, in coordination with the Crop Production Development Division, marked the official launch of the PAGSAKA Vlog Contest. The contest will run from July to November 2025, giving participants ample time to cultivate their gardens and craft their compelling video entries.
To further support their efforts, participants received organic seeds and fertilizers. These resources will be used to develop their gardens, which will serve as the primary subjects of their vlog entries, documenting their growth and success in organic vegetable production.
More Than a Contest: A Movement for a Greener Quezon
Beyond being just a competition, PAGSAKA is envisioned as a youth-led movement. It represents a collective step towards a greener, healthier, and more sustainable Quezon, championed by passionate and environmentally conscious young individuals from every corner of the province. This initiative highlights the potential of empowering youth to become active agents of change in promoting ecological awareness and sustainable practices.
