Infanta’s new fiber optic CCTV System puts illegal dumpers, vandals 'on camera'
Under the push for a safer community, the new CCTV installation marks a significant early success for Mayor Ruanto's administration, with more security upgrades planned for the coming year. (Infanta LGU)

INFANTA, Quezon – Infanta, under Mayor Lord Arnel Ruanto, has deployed a new network of high-definition, fiber optic-cabled CCTV cameras across strategic locations, signaling a zero-tolerance policy for public misconduct. This high-tech surveillance system ensures that every illegal act, from dumping to vandalism, will now be recorded and penalized.

The installation of the surveillance system is the cornerstone of the administration’s core advocacy for a safer, more orderly, and more peaceful community. Mayor Ruanto announced that the new cameras are now actively monitoring public spaces, particularly markets, walls, and riverbanks, to deter and apprehend individuals engaged in illegal dumping, public urination, and other illicit activities.

"Beyond simply monitoring our citizens, we aim to collectively promote and sustain security for a truly safer and more peaceful Infanta for all Infantahins, footage from the surveillance system will be used as concrete evidence to prosecute all violators." " Mayor Ruanto said.

The project marks a significant early achievement for the new administration, having been launched just three months into the Mayor’s term. The initial phase was funded by remaining budget allocations from the previous administration, with Mayor Ruanto giving special recognition to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) for providing the initial seed funding for the priority camera installations.

Looking ahead, the Mayor is already planning a broader security and development overhaul. For the upcoming year's budget, plans are underway to prioritize the installation of more CCTVs in various barangays and agricultural areas (linang), alongside increasing street illumination throughout the town.

In addition Mayor Ruanto underscored that security is only one part of their comprehensive strategy. The LGU maintains a strong focus on Local Economic Development to create stable and sustainable livelihood opportunities, ensuring the people of Infanta can thrive economically in a protected environment.
