LUCBAN, Quezon — Tackling the crucial challenge of balancing cost and profit, Lucban’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) recently received expert guidance this month. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Quezon, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI)–Lucban Chapter, successfully held the "Maximizing Profit with Smart Pricing and Costing Strategies" seminar.
Conducted at the SB Conference Hall, Municipal Building, a total of 44 participants attended the seminar. This group included 29 MSMEs and 15 potential entrepreneurs looking to formalise their business concepts. The seminar aimed to equip attendees with practical skills for calculating production costs, applying strategic pricing markups, and selecting effective pricing methods to ensure profitability while maintaining affordability for consumers.
CPA Gene Emil A. De La Cruz led the discussion, clearly explaining the fundamentals of pricing and costing. To keep the session engaging, he started with a fun warm-up where participants guessed item prices. Mr. De La Cruz then detailed the advantages and disadvantages of various pricing methods, stressing their real-world business applications.
The highlight was a hands-on workshop where attendees immediately applied their new knowledge by computing the costs and prices for their own products or services. Selected individuals proudly presented their outputs to the group, demonstrating their increased learning and confidence in applying the strategies discussed.
Through this initiative, the DTI continues to empower local entrepreneurs with essential tools and knowledge, helping them strengthen their businesses and enhance their competitiveness within the local market. MSMEs are encouraged to visit the Negosyo Center–Lucban for continuous consultation and support in applying these new strategies.
