SARIAYA, Quezon — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Quezon, in partnership with the Quezon Provincial Technical and Vocational Education Association and the local government of Sariaya, hosted a successful World Café of Opportunities (WCO) at the Sariaya Sports Complex on September 10. The event, held in celebration of National Technical-Vocational (Tech-Voc) Day and the town's fiesta, drew a significant number of community members seeking jobs and career opportunities.
According to Sariaya Mayor Marivic T. Gayeta, the WCO was a testament to the strong collaboration between the local government, TESDA, and various sectors to uplift the community's livelihood and skills. She emphasized that the activity was a "meaningful step" for local citizens, particularly for new graduates of TESDA programs, as it provided a direct and tangible path for them to find immediate work and begin their professional careers.
More than 500 jobs across various industries were offered by over 20 participating companies providing a direct link between skilled individuals and potential employers, creating immediate career paths for many. The 2025 TESDA Idol, Aisa Seño, also shared her personal testimony on how TESDA’s programs provided her with the skills and confidence needed to achieve her professional goals.
TESDA Deputy Director General for Operations Vidal D. Villanueva also attended, congratulating participants and acknowledging the Philippines' impressive performance in the World Skills ASEAN competition, where the country secured 34 medals. Emphasizing the value of vocational skills, Villanueva encouraged the youth to study and train, concluding his remarks with the TESDA motto: "kayang kaya," or 'we can do it.'
The event was also attended by key officials, including TESDA Quezon Provincial Director Benito G. Reyes, and PCOL Romulo A. Albacea, who represented the PNP Regional Director. Ms. Genecille P. Aguirre, representing Quezon Province Governor Dr. Angelina “Helen” DL. Tan, was also in attendance. The program included a testimonial from Ms. Aisa Seño, the 2025 TESDA Idol, who shared her personal story of success through TESDA programs.
Also present were TESDA Quezon Provincial Director Benito G. Reyes and representatives for the PNP Regional Director and the Quezon Province Governor. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also took part, providing essential services and outreach to beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
In a significant announcement that was a highlight of the event, officials revealed plans to build a new TESDA extension campus in Sariaya. The campus, which will be constructed in partnership with the local government, will serve as a permanent regional institution for the CALABARZON area. The new facility is expected to provide advanced technical skills training, significantly boosting the local workforce and attracting more investment to the province.
