LUCENA CITY, Quezon - Efforts to modernize the coconut sector prompted the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) CALABARZON to gather farmers, cooperatives, and partner institutions for the 2nd Coco Fiesta and the 9th Techno Gabay Program (TGP) Summit. The initiative brought together stakeholders to promote technologies, strengthen knowledge, and widen opportunities for coconut-based livelihoods.
Coco Fiesta 2025, held at SM City Trece Martires, showcased a range of coconut products and services from MSMEs, farmers, and cooperatives across CALABARZON. Exhibitors presented both traditional items and processed coconut goods that highlighted various value-adding approaches.
More than 150 farmers joined the technology forum, where resource experts demonstrated processing techniques, product development methods, and branding applications. Mallgoers participated as well, allowing the public to learn about coconut-based innovations.
The 9th TGP Summit at Cavite State University in Indang convened program implementers who coordinated ongoing efforts and shared updates on extension services. The summit also recognized FITS Centers and Magsasaka Siyentista for introducing technologies and farmer-driven innovations in their communities.
ATI CALABARZON Center Director Dr. Rolando Maningas underscored the need to improve coordination so training and technologies reach coconut farmers efficiently. He added that stronger cooperation among partners will help sustain the support systems that many farming communities continue to rely on.
“Patuloy naming ihahatid ang mga pagsasanay, teknolohiya, at oportunidad na magpapatibay sa kabuhayan at pangarap ng mga magniniyog,” Dr. Maningas said. “Sisiguraduhin naming mas marami pa tayong magagawa—hindi lang para sa industriya, kundi para sa bawat pamilyang umaasa sa biyaya ng niyog.”
Dr. Maningas reaffirmed ATI CALABARZON’s commitment to supporting resilient and innovation-oriented agricultural communities. He pledged continued collaboration with partners to advance coconut sector development.
“We remain focused on empowering our farming communities through accessible technologies and continuous training,” Dr. Maningas said. “Our goal is to ensure that every coconut farmer has the tools and opportunities needed to participate in a developing agricultural sector.”
