PITOGO, Quezon - Seeking closer collaboration with local governments, the Ugnayan ng Pahinungód of the University of the Philippines Diliman conducted a courtesy call at the Office of the Mayor of Pitogo, Quezon. The visit marked the opening of a broader partnership between the academic institution and the municipal government.
Ugnayan ng Pahinungód serves as the volunteer service arm of the University of the Philippines Diliman, connecting academic expertise with community needs. Through partnerships with local governments, it supports initiatives in education, health, disaster response, and social development.
During the meeting, Ugnayan ng Pahinungód presented proposed community-based programs for possible implementation in the municipality. These include a Psychosocial Support Program on mental health, Tutorial Services and a Community Reading Program for youth, the Buhay Pahinungód Program for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, and Gender Orientation sessions promoting sensitivity and inclusivity.
The Municipal Government of Pitogo, led by Mayor Dexter L. Sayat, warmly received the delegation and welcomed the proposed initiatives. The mayor highlighted the importance of working with academic institutions to strengthen social services and better address community needs.
Both UP Diliman and the Municipality of Pitogo expressed a shared commitment to meaningful collaboration. The engagement reflected a common goal of delivering inclusive and sustainable programs that contribute to the continued development of the community.
