LUCENA CITY, Quezon - Strengthening workplace readiness among young Quezon residents, Quezon Provincial Public Employment Service Office (QPPESO) recently conducted a Work Immersion and On-the-Job Training (OJT) orientation in Lucena City. Orientation sessions aligned with the youth employment and skills development priorities of Angelina "Helen" Tan and prepared senior high school and technical students for assignments in provincial government offices through guided, hands-on experience.
Work Immersion forms part of the Senior High School curriculum and allows students to experience actual work settings as preparation for future employment. On-the-Job Training, meanwhile, provides longer and more in-depth workplace exposure for students enrolled in technical and vocational programs who require extended hands-on training.
A total of 150 Grade 12 students from Quezon National High School joined the activity and are set to complete a 10-day Work Immersion Program in various provincial offices. Another 11 students from Global School of Caregiving & Advance Technology–Lopez will undergo a four-month On-the-Job Training program as part of their academic and skills development requirements.
The program will place participating students in different offices at the Quezon Provincial Capitol, where they will be exposed to an actual government work environment. During their assignment, students will assist with basic administrative tasks, observe daily office operations, and develop discipline, responsibility, and proper work habits.
Genecille P. Aguirre, PGADH and PESO Manager, emphasized the importance of Work Immersion and OJT programs in helping students identify their interests and strengthen skills needed for future employment. She explained that early exposure to the workplace enables students to better understand career options, professional expectations, and the responsibilities that come with their chosen fields.
Through the continued implementation of Work Immersion and OJT initiatives, QPPESO strengthens its role in guiding students as they transition from school to employment. The program provides meaningful and practical experience that helps students make informed decisions as they plan their future careers and professional paths.
