LOPEZ, Quezon — A high-energy community Zumba activity recently brought residents together for “Alerto sa Apoy: Fire Prevention Month Zumba 2026,” promoting fire safety awareness in an engaging way. The activity was led by the Lopez Fire Station under BFP Quezon Provincial Director FSINSP Jonathan R. Albos, JD, in coordination with the Municipal Fire Marshal and Bureau of Fire Protection personnel.

Beyond the fitness activity, the initiative highlights growing efforts to make fire prevention more accessible and relatable, especially as many incidents continue to stem from everyday household risks. The program also forms part of COMRES 5 (Community Relations) Week, reinforcing the importance of staying alert against fire hazards while recognizing the contributions of women in the community.

In her message, 4th District Board Member Hon. Rachel A. Ubana said fire is both useful and dangerous when not handled properly, especially in homes where it is used daily. She stressed that while fire is important for cooking and other household needs, it can quickly become life-threatening if not handled with care.

She added that many fire incidents start from small and often overlooked mistakes rather than large explosions. This shows how simple negligence can lead to serious damage to lives and property.

Participants, especially women, joined coordinated Zumba routines that promoted unity, empowerment, and shared responsibility in fire safety. The activity showed how community participation can help spread safety awareness while encouraging active involvement.

Similar activities will continue throughout the month to strengthen preparedness and safety across Lopez. These efforts aim to help residents adopt safer habits in their daily routines, particularly in handling fire and preventing common household risks.
