MAUBAN, Quezon — Farmers and fisherfolk in this town are gaining access to government agricultural services through an outreach program that brings assistance closer to barangay communities. The initiative expands access to registration, insurance, and support services in areas with limited access to municipal offices.
The program was launched in January 2026 by the Municipal Agriculture Office and has since reached several barangays across the town through scheduled visits. It provides on-site registration, consultation, and processing for farmers and fisherfolk seeking access to government agricultural programs.
Municipal Agriculturist Dr. Werner S. Decena leads field teams conducting outreach activities across participating barangays in the municipality. They assist farmers and fisherfolk in completing requirements and enrolling in national agricultural programs during each visit.
Decena said the program also covers the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation for insurance and support for qualified beneficiaries. He added that registration places farmers and fisherfolk in government records and allows them to access support programs available to them.
“Malaki ang naitutulong ng programang ito sa mga magsasaka at mangingisda sa aming bayan. Mas napapadali ang kanilang pag-access sa mga serbisyong pang-agrikultura na dati ay mahirap maabot,” Decena said.
He said the program aims to extend government services to more barangays across the municipality. It focuses on reaching communities that have limited access to agricultural support programs.
“Layunin naming mailapit ang serbisyo ng pamahalaan sa bawat barangay upang walang maiwan. Patuloy naming palalakasin ang suporta para sa sektor ng agrikultura sa pamamagitan ng mga ganitong programa,” he added.
The program was launched in January 2026 by the Municipal Agriculture Office and has since reached several barangays across the town. It delivers services through scheduled visits carried out in coordination with local officials and community leaders.
During each visit, teams conduct consultations and process documents for residents seeking assistance in their barangays. The setup works as a one-stop service point for registration and other agricultural needs.
Similar outreach efforts are carried out in other municipalities, although names and formats vary depending on local programs. In Mauban, Ka-Agri-Konek continues as a regular activity covering different barangays over time.
The program offers a model that other local governments may consider in expanding agricultural services in their areas. More activities are expected to reach additional barangays in the coming months.
