Transport drivers get expanded support as Lucena City leads Quezon effort

LUCENA CITY, Quezon — Transport drivers in Lucena City are receiving coordinated assistance aimed at easing rising fuel costs and unstable daily earnings across the transport sector. Thousands of registered drivers are now covered under a unified system that brings together multiple aid programs from local and national sources.

Coverage includes the Cash Relief Assistance Program and the Department of Social Welfare and Development Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation, supporting drivers facing rising costs and unstable earnings. In parallel, Kalsadamayan is now being rolled out to help transport workers access more affordable goods across the city.

To ensure smooth delivery, Lucena City has put in place a fuel subsidy system with fixed payout schedules and clear documentation requirements. Mark Alcala said the system is designed to maintain organized and transparent assistance.

At the center of this effort are national and local programs working side by side to steady driver income and reduce everyday operating costs. Public transport operations are becoming more stable as support programs ease financial strain on drivers.

“Patuloy nating inaayos ang sistema ng pamamahagi upang masigurong mabilis at maayos na natatanggap ng mga tsuper ang tulong na inilaan para sa kanila. Mahalaga na malinaw at maayos ang proseso upang mapanatili ang tiwala ng ating mga benepisyaryo,” ani Alcala.

Alcala said Kalsadamayan also helps transport workers manage daily expenses as prices continue to rise. The program operates alongside existing financial assistance efforts to widen overall support coverage.

“Malaking tulong ang Kalsadamayan sa ating mga tsuper dahil nababawasan ang kanilang gastusin sa araw-araw. Sa ganitong paraan, mas nakakayanan nilang ipagpatuloy ang kanilang hanapbuhay kahit may pagtaas ng presyo ng mga bilihin,” dagdag ni Alcala.

Across the province, transport leaders report more stable income among drivers benefiting from these programs. More consistent operations are being observed as financial pressure on drivers continues to ease.

Lucena’s approach combines organized systems, steady funding, and close coordination with transport groups across the city. Officials say this setup expands program reach and strengthens the reliability of assistance delivery.

Sustained support for transport drivers remains critical to maintaining mobility and keeping local economic activity moving. Program adjustments will continue as conditions in the transport sector evolve.
