Water levels drop in Binuang River, prompting conservation call in General Nakar

GENERAL NAKAR, Quezon — Water levels at the storage and intake facility along the Binuang River continue to decline as the dry season persists across the municipality. Lower river flow has reduced the amount of water available for households relying on the system as a primary source.

As of this week, water supply remains limited in several areas of General Nakar due to lower water levels and reduced stored supply. Several barangays relying on the river system have experienced disruptions in regular supply schedules and reduced access.

Residents have been advised to conserve water and avoid unnecessary use while supply remains limited in the area. Households are urged to turn off unused taps and manage water use carefully throughout the day.

The public is also encouraged to report homes seen leaving faucets running or wasting water within their communities. Reports can be directed to the Municipal Engineering Office for monitoring and appropriate action.

Water levels in the river are being closely monitored through regular checks by the local government. The Municipal Engineering Office has not said when normal water supply may fully return.

The river system usually supports daily water needs for homes, small farms, and basic community services across affected barangays. The current situation has also affected small-scale livelihood activities that depend on a steady and reliable water supply.

Prolonged dry conditions have caused water levels to drop further at the intake facility and nearby sections of the river. Continued heat and lack of rainfall are expected to affect supply if dry conditions persist in the coming days.

The municipal government continues to review the situation and carry out measures to manage available water supply. Conservation efforts remain in place as authorities work to maintain enough supply across affected areas.
