MACALELON, Quezon — Some 535 children will receive nutritious meals under the 16th cycle of Macalelon’s Supplementary Feeding Program using vegetables and other food products sourced from local farmers. Macalelon launched the feeding cycle on July 20 by providing Child Development Workers with food supplies and cooking equipment for use in day care centers across the municipality.

Child Development Workers received gas stoves, LPG tanks, cooking pots, frying pans, plates, spoons and cooler boxes. The equipment forms part of the municipal government’s counterpart contribution to the feeding program.



Food procurement for the 16th feeding cycle was carried out under the Sagip Saka Act as part of Macalelon’s support for local agricultural producers. Participating farmers supplied locally grown vegetables that will be included in the food distributed to child development centers.

Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Sunshine Rios-Jonsay led the distribution with Mayor Artemio A. Mamburao. The MSWDO coordinated the turnover to workers assigned to implement the feeding cycle in their respective communities.

Among the 535 beneficiaries are 73 children registered under the Supervised Neighborhood Play program in Macalelon. They will begin receiving food assistance even before their regular learning sessions formally start.

The municipal government said it would continue providing resources for nutrition and early childhood development services. It also urged parents to keep their children enrolled and remain actively involved in their education.
