BUENAVISTA, Quezon - Free anti-rabies vaccinations reached 436 dogs and cats in Buenavista, Quezon, during a recent campaign aimed at protecting animals and residents against the deadly disease. The initiative benefited 191 pet owners across four barangays as part of the provincial government's continuing rabies prevention efforts.
The Quezon Provincial Government, through the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV), headed by Dr. Flomella Caguicla, implemented the vaccination campaign in coordination with the Buenavista Office of the Municipal Agriculturist. Residents from Barangays San Vicente, Batabat Sur, San Pedro, and Poblacion received free vaccination services under the province's veterinary health program.
The initiative forms part of the provincial government's efforts to expand vaccination coverage and strengthen disease prevention in local communities. Regular immunization of dogs and cats remains an essential measure in reducing rabies transmission and protecting public health.
The OPV emphasized the importance of widespread vaccination in protecting both animals and residents against rabies. It also encouraged pet owners to practice responsible animal care and maintain regular vaccinations to help prevent the spread of the disease.
“Mahalagang hakbang ang malawakang pagbabakuna upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng rabies at maprotektahan ang kalusugan ng kapwa hayop at tao. Sa pamamagitan din nito, hinihikayat ang mga fur parents na maging responsable sa pangangalaga ng kanilang mga alagang hayop, lalo na sa pagpapabakuna ng mga ito laban sa rabies,” the OPV said.
