Camp Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City – After 31 years in military service, Brigadier General Claudio Lopena Yucot also known as “Napoleon of Talibon” will bid farewell on Tuesday, April 11 in a retirement ceremony at the 9th ID Quince Matires parade ground, Camp Elias Angeles, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur.
He is the Commander of the 901st Infantry Brigade, 9th Infantry Division, Philippine Army based in the province of Albay.
Major General Manolito Orense, the Commander, 9ID will preside over the retirement and testimonial ceremony in honor of Brigadier General Yucot and his superb contribution to the AFP.
“As Commander of the 901st Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army he displayed the highest esteem of military job by ensuring the high state of morale of personnel and mission accomplishment of the unit”.
Colonel Alden Juan Masagca, the current Deputy Brigade Commander, 901st Infantry Brigade will serve as Acting Commander.
In line with the ongoing military offensive operation against the CPP-NPA, Brigadier General Yucot successfully spoiled the NPA rebels’ attempt to organize, mobilize and conduct tactical offensive against the government troops and planned sabotage of the government flagship projects and vital installations in the provinces of Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur and Northern part of Sorsosgon.
Lieutenant General Ferdinand F Quidilla, Commander Southern Luzon Command said, Brigadier General Yucot is a brilliant military tactician of the Philippine Army. He was the former Commanding Officer of 9th Infantry Battalion that successfully defeated NPA rebels operating in municipalities of Castilla, Pillar and part of Casiguran all of Sorsogon and in Masbate.
As Commander of 901st Infantry Brigade, he effectively and efficiently employed the unit despite of troop’s shortage. During his term the 901st Infantry Brigade neutralized fourteen (14) NPAs and recovered thirty (30) assorted firearms and improvised explosive devices.
Brigadier General Yucot hails from Talibon, Bohol. He qualified to join the Philippine Military Academy in 1982 and started his military career in the Armed Forces of the Philippines upon his graduation from the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1986.
With exemplary training background, exposed to various assignments that further honed his leadership and management skills he was selected to assume the position as Commander 901st Brigade on October 4, 2015.
Among Brigadier General Yucot’s previous positions were Commanding Officer, 9th Infantry Battalion, 9ID, PA; Executive Officer, 902Brigade, 9ID, PA; Executive Officer, OTIG, PA; Commanding Officer 9DTU, 9ID, PA; Assistant Chief of Staff for personnel, G1, 9ID, PA; Deputy G1, PA; Commanding Officer APMC, PA; and Commander 901st Infantry Brigade, 9ID, PA.
His excellent performance in the military service earned him numerous awards and decorations. He is a recipient of distinguished service star medals for conspicuous courage and gallantry in action as well as bronze cross medals for gallantry in combat and numerous other badges and awards both from military organizations and civilian institutions.
The AFP leadership salutes Brigadier General Yucot for his outstanding service to the AFP organization and his dedication in leading the 901st Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army in providing better, secure, and safer place for the Bicolanos.
