LUCENA CITY - A total lockdown will be implemented at midnight of March 29, 2020 in the City of Lucena as part of the enhanced quarantine of the community to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to a Facebook post by Arnel Avila, Executive Assistant and PIO Chief of the City starting on March 30, 2020, for having five (5) positive CoViD-19 in the City of Lucena based on a bulletin issued by the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) on March 28, 2020, Col. Col. Romulo Albacea said, Chief of the Lucena PNP no one from outside Lucena will be allowed to enter any part of the city.

Avila added that Lucena PNP would be more stringent at the designated checkpoints and would also like to request the cooperation of all the Lucenahin starting March 30, 2020, is Total Lockdown of the City.

Lockdown means travel restrictions and no one can enter or exit the area except for exemptions under the quarantined community pass such as emergency cases, food purchases and more.

Such a measure is to limit the movement of people to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

Currently, 9 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Quezon Province; Lucena - 5, Sariaya - 1, Sampaloc - 1, Tayabas - 1, Candelaria - 1.

According to the Quezon Public Information Office, 153 more people are awaiting the result, while 2 have passed away.

In this regard, Col. Albacea also appealed to the residents of Lucena City to follow existing protocols to protect themselves against the deadly virus.
