CALAMBA CITY, Laguna - Dormers from the University of the Philippines - Los Baños (UPLB) made face shields to help protect frontliners from COVID-19 exposure.
In a post from the UPLB Community Affairs official Facebook page, dormers of the Women’s Residence Hall crafted DIY face shields during their idle time under 24-hour home quarantine.
The team was able to assemble 100 pieces of face shields which can be used as an alternative Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)in line with the low supply of face masks in the market
The said project was initiated by the School of Environmental Science and Management-UPLB faculty members Dr. Patricia Sanchez and Dean Decibel Faustino-Eslava, through UPLB Housing Office Chief Prof. Zoilo D. Belano, Jr.
In line with this, the resident members of the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity – Los Baños Chapter has started working on DIY PPEs project last March 23 and called upon volunteers for help.
The group also stated that they will provide the raw materials and share a quick guide to volunteers in relation to creating the DIY PPEs.
In addition, the UPLB has clarified through their official Facebook page that UPLB has no confirmed case of COVID-19 as of the moment. (CO/with reports from the UPLB Community Affairs)
