Laguna supports cycling as an alternative return-to-work transpo
Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna - The provincial government of Laguna encourages the use of bicycles as an option for people returning to work affected by restricted public transit operations.

After a week of being subjected to the Quarantine General Community (GCQ), the province of Laguna still has limited public transport that has allowed return operations to use bicycles to make it easier to get to work.

According to Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez's statement on his official Facebook page, he was aware of the concerns of his constituents about the ongoing ban on travel across the province but still restricts public transport on the basis of recommendations and rules that have been lowered by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and Department of Transportation (DOTr).

“Batid ko po ang inyong mga hinaing tungkol dito, at tayo po ay kumikilos na upang mabigyan ito ng solusyon.” Gov. Hernandez said.

In this regard, Gov. Hernandez has provided the public with tips on bike safety in order to ensure that the brakes are in good condition, that the chain is in good condition, that it has the habit of carrying special keys and tool kits, that a bike light is installed and that the wheels are regularly viewed.

It is also advisable to wear safety gear such as helmets, shades or eye shields, face masks, and vivid colors to ensure easy access to the road to prevent unexpected accidents.

It is also important to stay on the safe side of the road, avoiding counterflow and making sure not to use earphones or anything else that may cause discomfort while cycling. (CO / PIA4A)
