LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A total of 1,389 farmers received agricultural assistance and healthcare services from the Lucena City government on June 22. The beneficiaries received insurance checks, seeds, medicines and access to health programs during the Distribution of Agricultural Inputs and Boomerang Balik Kalinga program.
Mayor Mark Alcala led the program in coordination with the City Agriculture Office and the City Health Office. Free cancer screening and registration for PhilHealth and YAKAP services were also offered during the activity.
According to the City Agriculture Office, the distribution covered registered farmers from different barangays in Lucena City. Agricultural inputs released during the activity formed part of the city's assistance to the farming sector.
In his message, Alcala said the city government remains committed to supporting farmers through programs that address both livelihood and healthcare needs. He said the local government recognizes the role of farmers in sustaining food production in the city.
"Patuloy nating susuportahan ang ating mga magsasaka sa pamamagitan ng mga programang tutugon sa kanilang pangangailangan sa kabuhayan at kalusugan," Alcala said.
Alcala also said the city government will continue expanding programs for the agriculture sector. He said farmers should continue receiving support through government services and assistance programs.
"Ang sektor ng agrikultura ay mahalagang bahagi ng pag-unlad ng Lucena kaya patuloy tayong maghahatid ng mga serbisyong makakatulong sa kanilang hanapbuhay at kapakanan," he added.
According to the City Agriculture Office, the beneficiaries came from different barangays in Lucena City. The assistance formed part of the city's agricultural support programs for registered farmers.
