TAYABAS CITY - The city's dedication to eradicating the drug problem and ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents has been recognized and commended by local and national authorities.

Philippine National Police (PNP) has recognized the local government units of Tayabas City for their exceptional efforts in achieving a 100% drug-cleared status in all of their 66 barangays during the 122nd Police Service Anniversary (PSA) at Camp BGen Vicente P. Lim in Calamba City, Laguna, on September 6, 2023.



The award was given to Tayabas City Mayor Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso along with Tayabas City PNP Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel (PLTCOL) Bonna Obmerga to accept the recognition on behalf of the local government and police force. The PNP commended their tireless dedication and effective strategies in eradicating the drug problem, setting a commendable example for other cities in the country.

The mayor said this achievement serves as a testament to the effective strategies implemented by the Tayabas City local government unit (LGU) in combating illegal drugs within its jurisdiction.



She also expressed gratitude to the local police force for their unwavering commitment and hard work in ensuring the safety and well-being of the city's residents.

The PSA, which is observed across the country, is "a celebration in the history of our nation's security and public service." It serves as a reminder of the significance of vigilance and dedication in safeguarding the safety and well-being of our communities.

This year’s PSA celebration is themed “Nagkakaisang Pulisya at Pamayanan Tungo sa Mapayapa at Maunlad na Bansa”.

He also commended the dedication and sacrifices of the men and women in uniform who tirelessly serve and protect the people.

Acorda said the PSA celebration reflects the legacy the PNP is creating and the profound impact they are making on the lives of the people we serve.

He emphasized that the PNP's commitment to serve and protect goes beyond just enforcing the law, but also encompasses building strong relationships with communities and fostering a sense of trust and security.

Acorda also acknowledged the challenges faced by the police force and expressed his gratitude for their dedication and sacrifice in ensuring the safety of the nation.
