ALABAT, Quezon - As a committed member of Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG), Mayor Eizelle Canimo joined fellow leaders and citizens in the historic “Trillion Peso March.” Her participation reflected a strong alignment with Filipinos demanding accountability and an end to corruption across all levels of government.
The march also saw the presence of Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong, who stood alongside convenors Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Alabat, Quezon Mayor Eizelle Canimo at the EDSA People Power Monument. Together, the mayors reaffirmed the shared commitment of M4GG to push for transparent, honest, and accountable governance.
The group declared that they stand with the public in demanding accountability from all individuals involved in corruption and in advancing reforms that strengthen integrity across government institutions. In their statement, M4GG emphasized unity in the nationwide call: “Serve the nation, end corruption.”
The Trillion Peso March brought together mayors and local officials who openly affirmed their commitment to good governance. The significant turnout demonstrated the readiness of LGUs to confront abuses in public systems and uphold stricter ethical standards.
“Hindi na po panahon para maging lax o magpikit-mata sa mga maling gawain—maliit man o malaki. Ang korapsyon ay hindi lamang pagnanakaw ng pondo; ito ay pagnanakaw ng tiwala at kinabukasan ng ating mga mamamayan.”
She emphasized that this conviction guides her leadership, highlighting that corruption is not only a financial crime but a breach of public trust. She added that public officials must set the highest example because the standards they uphold determine the quality of governance their communities receive.
“Ang korapsyon ay sumisira sa tiwala ng mamamayan,” sinabi ni Mayor Canimo. “Bawat maling gawain ay naglalayo sa atin mula sa inaasam na maayos na pamamahala at nagpapahina sa paniniwala ng tao sa kanilang pamahalaan.”
Mayor Canimo reaffirmed that the zero-tolerance policy against corruption remains central to her administration. She explained that every administrative order and executive directive she issues is anchored on the principles of order, transparency, and discipline.
The national movement sends a forceful reminder that executive discipline must be uncompromising at every level of local governance. Its message amplifies the call for order, accountability, and swift public service grounded in integrity.
The movement also highlights the urgent need for stronger anti-corruption safeguards that can withstand political pressure. Its advocacy promotes transparent processes, tighter internal controls, and firm accountability structures capable of preventing corruption before it takes root.
Mayor Canimo reaffirmed that Mayors for Good Governance will continue working to build institutions that are transparent and free from undue influence. She stressed that the coalition is committed to strengthening systems that safeguard public funds and elevate the standards of leadership across all LGUs.
“Hindi kami hihinto,” pangako niya. “Magpapatuloy kami sa laban na ito hanggang maramdaman ng bawat Pilipino ang tunay na epekto ng tapat, transparent, at malinis na serbisyo publiko.”
