LUCENA CITY, Quezon - Students in the province will soon be covered by a new government-backed youth initiative following the launch of the YES INSPIRE program. The initiative aims to strengthen youth leadership, civic awareness, and values formation through structured activities in schools and communities.
The rollout was taken up during the provincial board’s 30th Regular Session, where members discussed the scope and direction of the program. Deliberations focused on how the initiative would support youth development while complementing existing provincial efforts.
During the session, Col. Joel R. Jonson of the Armed Forces of the Philippines was invited to explain the goals and coverage of the YES INSPIRE program. He outlined how the initiative will be implemented in colleges and universities as part of broader youth engagement efforts.
Jonson said the program is intended to help young people develop awareness of social and civic issues and make informed decisions. He added that values formation is central to guiding students away from harmful influences.
He also stressed that youth participation under the program should remain constructive and within lawful democratic processes. He said understanding civic roles allows students to express their views without resorting to harmful actions.
Meanwhile, SKPF President and Ex-Officio Board Member Hon. Jackelyn D. Delimos Jackelyn Delimos said the program places emphasis on values formation and leadership development among the youth. She said sustained guidance is needed to help young people become responsible and engaged members of society.
“This program is not just about activities but about shaping values and leadership among our youth,” Delimos said. “Through this program, we want to build a generation of responsible and engaged leaders.”
Delimos also pointed out that youth participation plays an important role in sustaining peace and long-term development in the province. She said progress depends on shared responsibility among young people, communities, and government institutions.
The program will initially be piloted in a state university before expanding to other schools, communities, and out-of-school youth. Implementation is expected to begin this February, with the pilot phase serving as a model for wider rollout.
The YES INSPIRE initiative is planned as a continuing effort involving schools, government agencies, and partner institutions. It is intended to support existing youth programs while addressing current community and governance concerns.
