SARIAYA, Quezon — Sariaya rolled out its first PuroKalusugan program in Barangay Sampaloc I as part of efforts to improve healthcare services in local communities. With residents availing themselves of free consultations and preventive care services, healthcare personnel conducted outreach activities throughout the day.

Mayor Marivic Gayeta said the municipality continues to prioritize healthcare programs aimed at improving access to medical services in barangays. She said bringing healthcare outreach activities directly to communities helps residents receive immediate medical attention and preventive care.

Residents, including senior citizens and parents with children, gathered at the venue to seek medical assistance and health advice closer to their community. Some residents waited for consultations while others received health checkups and medical guidance from healthcare personnel.

Aside from medical consultations, healthcare workers also conducted blood sugar monitoring, vaccination, and distribution of free medicines during PuroKalusugan activities in Sariaya barangays. PhilHealth representatives also assisted residents with member registration, updating of membership records, and discussions on benefits under the YAKAP Program.

Gayeta also emphasized the importance of cooperation between barangay officials, healthcare workers, and residents in strengthening community healthcare services. She said partnerships at the local level help ensure that government healthcare programs reach more people across the municipality.

The community-based healthcare initiative was organized through the barangay government led by Barangay Captain Manuel Veleña in coordination with the Sariaya Rural Health Unit headed by Dr. Omar Ilagan. Similar healthcare outreach activities are expected to continue in other barangays as part of the municipality’s ongoing public health efforts.
