Trece Martires City, Cavite, Oct. 30 (PIA) – The Provincial Government-Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) recently led the fourth phase of streambank rehabilitation of Kay-Alamang River at the Belmont Subdivision and Harbor Subdivision in Barangay Halang and in Barangay Calubcob in Naic.
Some 2,000 seedlings from the Provincial Nursery and Cavite State University comprised of bamboo, irok and assorted fruit bearing trees were planted along the streambank. The event was pursuant to a memorandum of agreement for the conservation and rehabilitation of the streambank for 17 months that the provincial government and the two barangays signed. Environment volunteers from the University of the Philippines -Diliman College of Social Work and Community Development, Lyceum of the Philippines, International School, Army Reserve Command, Philippines Annual Conference Cavite and the provincial government joined the event.
