ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal (PIA)—The Municipality of Angono is set to celebrate Arts Month through a series of activities hand-in-hand with the Regional Lead School for the Arts, Angono Cultural Heritage Office Consultant, FEU Professor James Owen Saguinsin and other art institutions.
The Angono Lead School for the Arts will conduct a Short Film Festival, Chamber Orchestra Recital, Music and Voice Performance and Dance Recital within the month of February while Professor Saguinsin is scheduled to conduct a lecture entitled “Higanti ng mga Higantes: Isang Paglilinaw sa Kasaysayan ng mga Higantes ng Angono” to kick off the celebration on February 1.
Saguinsin’s lecture will take place at SM Center Angono Cinema 4 at 11AM.
The scheduled activities lined up for Arts Month in the country’s art capital include an Arts Month Exhibit: Art of Hearts from February 10 to 17, Art of Hearts Photography Contest on February 11, On the Spot Poster Making Contest on February 17, Buwan ng Sining: Selebrasyon ng Sining sa Museo on February 18, RLSAA Short Film Festival and DISKARTE: An Art Exhibit both on February 20, RLSAA Chamber Orchestra Recital on February 21, RLSAA Musica and Voice Recital on February 22, Veterans’ Day Celebration on February 23, Buwan ng Sining: Conciertong Handog on February 25 and ARTternative lecture: Giving a New Persepective on Art, Culture and Heritage on February 27 to 28.
Arts Month February also coincides with the 104th birthday of National Artist for Music and Angono local Maestro Lucio San Pedro who was born February 11. San Pedro, who was renowned for composing various musical pieces including “Sa Ugoy ng Duyan”, will be honored through a birth celebration this coming February 11.
