LUCENA CITY, Quezon- January 26 (PIA)- Philippine Statistics Authority-Quezon is conducting two surveys in the province, namely the labor force and consumer expectation surveys.
Provincial Statistics Officer Airene Pucyutan said in the ‘Kapihan sa PIA’ held this January 25 at the Pacific Mall Activity Center, this city, that the agency encourages citizens who will be chosen as respondents to participate in the said surveys
‘Respondents should cooperate the surveys by answering the questionnaires accurately’ , PSO Pucyutan said.
According to PSA-Quezon, the labor force survey is a nationwide quarterly of households particularly on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. The survey aims to provide quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market.
The survey provides information as basis for the formulation of policies and programs on the following: creation and generation of gainful employment and livelihood opportunities; reduction of unemployment and underemployment and enhancement of a working person's welfare. The survey also provides information on the levels and trends of employment, unemployment and underemployment.
On the other hand, the consumer expectation survey (CES) is a household-based survey on the consumers' assessment of their family income, financial situation and the economic condition of the country. The CES is a complementary survey to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' business expectation survey.
The CES has a total sample of about 5,000 households around the country 160 of which will come from Quezon Province. CES is a joint undertaking between the PSA and the BSP.
The PSA’s responsibility is to undertake the data collection and encode the questionnaires while the generation of tables and analysis of the results will be done by the BSP according to PSA. (GG/Ruel Orinday, PIA-Quezon with reports from RVLitan-PSA-Quezon)
