LUCENA CITY, Quezon - The Department of Trade and Industry Region-4A recently conducted a media training workshop on the ASEAN/ EU-GSP+ briefing for Calabarzon journalists alongside other key officials and stakeholders last January 18 at the Crowne Plaza Galleria Hotel, Ortigas Center which was attended by 90 participants from the region's five provinces.

DTI-4A Regional Director Marilou G. Quinco Toledo said the activity was held in partnership with the industry development group to support the development of key messages and identify gaps in communication efforts of the region.

In her opening remarks, director Toledo pointed out the importance of national trade and ASEAN agreements .

‘CALABARZON is the country’s leading region in terms of production and manufacturing’ , Toledo said.

She mentioned also the important role of media to communicate properly to the public to encourage various sectors to join.

Dr. Florian A. Alburo, Team Leader and Key Expert, European Union- Trade Related Technical Assistance-3 on the other hand highligtened the Philippines as an archipelago and its implications on national trade.

The activity also aims to mobilize, support, integrate and harmonize public-private efforts towards taking full advantage of the trade opportunities under the country’s trade agreements.

The program also included MSME testimonials from Jeraldine S. Bautista of the Cocoplus Aquarian Development Corporation ; Maureen M. Pasiolco of Pasiolco Agri-Ventures and Clarke S. Nebrao of Laguna Food Processors.

Export Marketing Bureau Director Senen Perlada led the briefing-AEC and PH-Europe Strategy- international markets for MSMEs while Zenaida C. Maglaya, USEC, regional operations group, DTI discussed the AEC and PH-Europe in the regions. (GG/Ruel Orinday/ PIA-Quezon)
