MANILA, Philippines- The Department of Education (DepEd) released memorandum no. 054 series of 2020 last May 29, 2020 noted as Reiteration of advisory on work arrangements in the Department of Education in light of recent developments in the Covid-19 Situation signed by DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones.

This memorandum was inspired by Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) in it’s resolution No. 40 series of 2020 which adopts risk level classification for provinces, highly urbanized cities and independent component cities begining June 1, 2020 until June 15, 2020 under Classifications of Community Quarantine (Enhanced Community Quarantine, Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine, General Community Quarantine, Modifies General Community Quarantine) and was affirmed by the President in his televised address on the evening of May 28, 2020.





These are the Summaries of The memorandum released;

The Department of Education (DepEd) will be issuing comprehensive guidelines on work arrangements to take into consideration the current developments and the policies set forth by the office of the president, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and the Civil Service Comission.





In the meantime, The status quo on work arrangements for officials, teaching and non-teaching personel in all it’s offices, units and schools (pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 043 series of 2020: Guidelines on the alternative work Arrangements in the Department of Education in light of the COVID-19 Stringent Social Distancing Measures, and OM-OSEC-2020-001), is extended until completion of executive review of the proposed comprehensive guidelines submitted by the DepEd Task force COVID-19.

All teachers in DepEd schools nationwide shall work from home from June 1 to 5, 2020, except for those specifically authorized by the Regional Directors to form part of the skeleton workforce who will render work in school, subject to the observance of COVID-19 health and safety precautions.

All are reminded that the first two weeks of enrollment shall completely be remote enrollment, where there will be absolutely no face-to-face per Item V of the guidelines on enrollment for school year 2020-2021 in the context of the public health emergency due to COVID-19 under No. 008 series of 2020.

The said Memorandum addresses the Undersecretaries, Assistant Secretaries, Ministers (Basic, Higher and Technical Education, BARMM), Bureau and Service directors, Regional directors, Schools Division Superintendents, Public Elementary and Secondary School Heads, Public Elementary and Secondary School Heads and All other Concerned.

Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) is a serious attack to the education system in our Country, it is the reason why distant learning and work-for-home are imposed. The implementation of the memorandum is to avoid risks of exposure of our teachers and learners to COVID-19 and thus a guide to the employees of the Department of Education (DepEd) Nationwide.
