TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - Early this week, Quezonians urged and launched an online petition to a local mall in Lucena City in this province to screen GomBurZa, the biggest historical film of the new decade, in their cinema. GomBurZa reinforces it not only as a cinematic gem but as a tribute to the colorful history of the country.

The film GomBurZa, which depicts the lives of three Filipino priests and their dedication to their dream of equality and justice during the Spanish colonial period includes scenes shot in Quezon, particularly in Tayabas City's historical sites such as Puente de Malagonlong, Casa Comunidad, Basilica Minor of St. Michael the Archangel, holds great significance for Quezonians because it honors their ancestors' bravery and sacrifices, as well as its cultural value to the community, according to the OST Tayabas Heritage Group Incorporated.

The local community recognizes the importance of preserving and celebrating their country's history, and they see GomBurZa as an opportunity to do just that. By showcasing the film in their city, they hope to inspire a sense of pride and appreciation for their cultural heritage among the younger generation.

The movie serves as a reminder of the struggles and triumphs of their ancestors, highlighting the importance of preserving and celebrating their heritage. Showcasing GomBurZa in a popular venue like a local mall has the potential to reach a wider audience and spark meaningful conversations about Philippine history and identity.

"Hiniling namin na bigyang pansin ang ang pagpapalabas tungkol sa Gomburza. Isa itong mahusay na paraan upang mas maintindihan natin ang ating kasaysayan. Ang pagsusuri sa ating nakaraan ay magbibigay sa atin ng gabay para sa ating kasalukuyan at hinaharap. " OST Tayabas said this in an exclusive interview with the Sentinel Times.

They also encourage everyone to watch the movie and learn about the sacrifices and struggles of GomBurZa, as it serves as a reminder of the importance of fighting for justice and standing up against oppression.

"Sana'y samahan niyo kami sa pagpapahalaga sa mga pangyayari na nag-akay sa atin sa ating kalagayan ngayon. Mabuhay ang mga kabataang Quezonian!" OST Tayabas added.

As of this writing, the local mall is now showing the movie in the city center, which has made it more accessible to the general public in the area. This allows not only Quezonians but also visitors and tourists to learn about the rich history and cultural heritage of the province. Making the movie easily accessible encourages more people to engage in discussions and appreciate the significance of GomBurZa in shaping Filipino identity.

Quezonians expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to watch the movie and expressed their desire for more cultural events and activities that promote local history and heritage. They believe that by continuously celebrating and understanding their roots, they can contribute to the preservation and promotion of their unique identity as Quezonians.

The actor who played Padre Burgos, Cedrick Juan, expressed his gratitude for the film's positive reception in Quezon Province, saying, "Meron na mga taga-Quezon Province!"

Meanwhile, GomBurZa received various awards at the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 on December 27, 2023. Aside from the 2nd Best Picture award, "GomBurZa" also won the Best Actor Award, Best Director Award, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Sound Design, and the special Gawad Gatpuno Antonio Villegas Cultural Award.
