SARIAYA, Quezon - Donors who rolled up their sleeves for the Blood Letting Activity in Barangay Poblacion 4 last June 4, 2025, not only helped save lives but also received donor cards that can serve as a guarantee for future medical needs. The event drew 21 generous individuals from various barangays who voluntarily donated blood, showcasing the community's spirit of solidarity and altruism.
The donors came from different barangays, including Poblacion 4, Pili, Mamala 1, Mamala 2, Tumbaga 2, Concepcion 1, and Balubal. Each donor's contribution will help save lives and make a significant difference in the community.
Nurse III Jacqueline Abrihan of RHU Sariaya shared that she actively coordinates with the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) to schedule blood letting activities in the town's 43 barangays. The program aims to provide opportunities for willing donors and ensure a sufficient blood supply during emergencies, ultimately contributing to the well-being of the community.
The Quezon Medical Center (QMC) provides donor cards to those who give blood, which can serve as a guarantee if they need blood in the future. This incentive encourages more people to participate in blood donation activities.
Abrihan also reminded potential donors of the guidelines to follow. These include being between 18-60 years old, weighing at least 50kg, having sufficient sleep (8 hours), not being sleep-deprived or having consumed alcohol within 24 hours, and being in good health. Specific guidelines for female donors include not being pregnant, not breastfeeding, and not having given birth within a year.
Meanwhile, residents of Janagdong 2 and nearby barangays are invited to participate in the upcoming Blood Letting Activity. The event will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Barangay Hall of Janagdong 2. The activity is open to all qualified donors from neighboring barangays, and everyone is encouraged to lend their support to this humanitarian endeavor.
